Barrister's Block

I really need to come up with my own name for this sew-along, since it is no longer Farmer's Wife.  Suggestions?  I'm trying very hard to keep up on this.  At first I wasn't going to make the extra blocks, but then I couldn't help myself!  So, I am caught up except for the extra block that Randy gave us last week, and the new post today with 3 blocks and an extra.  Here are the most recent that I finished...

Recognize some of those fabrics?  I thought I would use some Little Gatherings and Seasonal Gatherings since I've got a little bit of it laying around!

And what's a post without at least one cat?

She makes me laugh.  Ever since she was a kitten, she likes to sit with her front half up higher than her back half.  She spends a lot of time laying on my ironing board (leaving me lots of fur balls) watching the birds and bugs.  That lint roller next to her gets a work out several times a day!

Have a great day!

  1. Quilt-a-long name? How about "Surprise for my friend, Joan"? THAT has a ring to it!!

  2. Cats are funny creatures of habit. She obviously has a lot to look after through that window!

  3. These blocks are so striking in these three colors. And yes, I recognize the fabrics. I want to come play in your new stash! I like Joan's suggestion for a name, except with one minor change--you guessed it! Sub Janet for Joan. : )
Actually my first though for a name was "Newspaper" because it is black and white and red all over (remember that stale joke?). Then I thought about how this isn't white, it is more the color of a very old newspaper--so then I thought of "vintage news" and then I thought I would just give up trying!!
    That cat cracks me up!!

  5. Exactly. What is a post without a cat! (I smile) What rockin' awesome blocks. They look like fun, like you had a block party. Right on. They're inspiring.

  9. Your helper sounds like mine---she has to have her spot on the table. She now has decided I need help getting ready in the morning...when I get out of the shower she is on the vanity with the sink stopper pulled out.....who knows what has been getting knocked down the drain! The quilt blocks are beautiful..I do recognize some of the patterns!!

  10. Your blocks are great. I like the controlled colors. My brain can't even come up with a decent name for the few quilts I've finished lately. these days. So I'm not much help with a name for your sew-a-long. But when I look at your blocks, I'm thinking about cards, the reds and blacks of the 4 suits. Does that help?
I'm so far behind. Hopefully catching up won't be too painful one of these days.

  11. The red & black combination in repro fabrics is working very well. I am very low on blacks in my stash.
