Do you remember these blocks? They are the two NFW that ended up way too small! It was driving me crazy, knowing that they were finished, but not finished. I was determined to make them work some how, and this is what I ended up with. I just framed this one...
And this one I made lots more HSTs to get it up to size.
I feel much better now that they are finished. Then, since I was on a roll, I pieced the rest of my NFW blocks and was all caught up for one whole day!
I like this black print, but the light design was way too white, so I got out my trusty Instant Antique from Primitive Gatherings and darkened it right up...much better!
And here is why I have trouble getting things done...
Today I am going to try to piece the two NFW that Randy released this week. I think there will be a few more next week, so I better get busy!
Have a great day!
Lovely blocks! The color and fabric you are using is going to make a stunning quilt!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see this quilt in it's entirety, Julie! Yowza - kitty rivals the size of our outdoor Sugar! He looks very happy to be close to you, though!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Great blocks - and wow - a great big kitty ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe cat pics are precious! I can relate to your fluffy impediments! Your blocks are striking in red and black.
ReplyDeleteYour kitty made me LOL! Seems oblivious to the fact that this is a working zone! : )
ReplyDeleteI love the classic look of the red/tan/black blocks. I need to learn more about this "instant antiquing" stuff. Sounds like a necessity!
Great blocks!
ReplyDeleteGood job on getting all those blocks done. Although a bit of a pain at times, kitty company sure is good! They are such good little companions.
ReplyDeleteWhy do they believe that if they are not directly being sliced with the rotary cutter or under the needle, then by golly. they are not in the way !~! Cat Cat absolutely loves to be smack in the middle of whatever I am doing.
ReplyDeleteI am so inspired by the blocks you make with HSTs. The alternate way of making HSTs wherein you sew a square and then cut it into triangles that turn into squares; I made a batch of these for a young friend to make a quilt from and I am astounded at how perfectly they came out. Much squarer than the original way of making them.
Yikes - I only have the 18x24" mat which would be almost covered by your fluffy friend. At least only my little Midgie likes to sit (not lay) on my mat.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a cat that big and he was always in whatever I was doing. If I was sitting down, he felt he needed to be in my lap. Worse than a two year old, and the older he got, the worse HE got. I miss his 'interference' since he went to kitty heaven.
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks and I am also intriqued by Instant Antique!
Cats and quilts seem to gravitate to one another. I miss mine. Your blocks are great! Love the Instant Antique! Must look for that!
ReplyDeleteI love those blocks; makes your quilt pretty and stunning. The kitty cat is even more adorable. :D
