Aside from all of the fun we were having at quilt market, Kim and her hubby had also made some other plans for us. On Friday night, after that great food at Oklahoma Joe's that I posted about last time, we went to...wait for it...A DAUGHTRY CONCERT!!! I love Daughtry!! The concert was at the Midland Theater - which is just beautiful! I will post a few pictures here, but you can see more on their website. It was fun just to take in our surroundings.
Can you believe how beautiful it is? Wow! I could have done without the warm up band, but Daughtry was really good. I have liked him since he was on American Idol and I've had his first CD since it came out. I now have all 3. I can get a lot more jewelry done if I'm jammin' to Daughtry! As you can tell, it was an amazing day!
On Saturday we were very tired! I'm not used to going to concerts and staying out late, you know! We walked the rest of the market floor and visited a few friends again, then we went to the quilt show (those pictures are in a previous post).
Sunday morning we decided to go to breakfast at The Big Biscuit. It was really good and enough food for an army. And yes...the biscuits were big...and good! Then we went back to Market as there were a few people that I needed to see again. We had made plans to meet back up with Kim's hubby and hit a few antique shops. I was really surprised at the number of quilts that we saw in those shops - I only took this one picture...
There were a lot of nice quilts, but I thought most of them were over-priced. So, none of them came home with me. The only thing that did make it's way in the car with me was a small chalk board. I use those in my booth and have "borrowed" several of them from my SIL. Kim has a love for doll beds and found THREE of them that were really cute. Since they fit in the car, they went home with her!
Next stop...feeding the elk!
I learned that once the big boy got part of the carrot in his mouth...you will not win a tug of war! You can see that they are shedding their winter fur and I really would have liked to give them a good brushing! This little boy was so excited to see the elk close up - we gave him some of our carrots so he could feed them too.
As you can see, I had an awesome week! Ron and Kim really are the best hosts, they took such good care of me. It was amazing to see all of the new things at market and meet up with old and new friends. Just a really great time!
Hope you all have a great day!!
Uh-oh, I was not going back to KC for a few months, but I think I will hurry up and get back there so I can go to that concert hall; it looks amazing! Karmen
ReplyDeleteI'm tired just having read about all you got to do at Market, Julie! What a fun time! Were the elk in a park? What a hoot!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
What a gorgeous theater! We have a similar place (on a much smaller scale) here that has been restored and is used for concerts, opera and live theater. It was a movie house when I was small and you could get into the Saturday matinee for a can of food. But that was probably not nearly as fun as your experiences at market--and the surrounding area. : )
ReplyDeleteHope that little guy went home with all his fingers intact!
