Catching you up, once again

I've been bad about consistently posting on my blog for a long time, but this time I've really been dragging my feet.  My dad passed away unexpectedly on January 25th.  I really didn't want to share all of the details, but I also didn't want to just continue posting without mentioning it.  So I did nothing.  But, now it's time, so here goes.

It looks like he's thinking pretty hard about something...

I love this picture of Mom & Dad. When my niece graduated, she had a photographer come and we just took tons of fun pictures.  Isn't this just perfect for a farmer?!

This one sums up the relationship between my dad and my niece.  They had a very special bond.  She was closer to him than anyone.  Look at the love on his face.

You can bet that this was one of his favorite moments - a cute granddaughter on each side

It's all been a bit surreal to me because I live an hour away and didn't see Dad as much as everyone else. My brother and his family live right around the corner so they saw him numerous times a day.  I was not looking forward to Easter because I knew it was going to be hard for me to not have him sitting/sleeping in the chair.  Well, thanks to Covid-19 I didn't have to worry about that, as Easter dinner was cancelled for us. We have been quarantining and I haven't left home since March 14th - the day that I returned home from Dallas, TX.

So that's the next thing to catch you up on.  My friend Becky and I drove to Dallas to vend at the show.  We got everything all set up, just to find out that night that the city decided to shut down all large events. That meant that we had to go tear everything down without a single sale.  So depressing.  But, looking back, I think it was for the best, knowing what we know now.  Here is our booth - at least we hadn't hung up all of the jewelry on the stands, that just would have taken more time to tear down!

I was really excited to have new products for the show.  With my old website, I only had 100 slots for products.  That was just fine when I first started my business, but we have added a ton of things since then and it was difficult to pick and choose what items to put on and what to leave off.  We typically offer a variety of different items when we vend, but I don't think we will be vending at a lot of shows this year.  Instead, we are building a brand new website that we are able to load many more items onto.  I'm adding more things daily and we hope to publish the new site very soon.  Before we left for Dallas, I was soooo excited to have some kits available for two of my quilt designs - Callie's Court, and Half Court.  Those are on my old (current) website, so if you like them, you can see them now.  I also carry a few different Bloc Loc rulers, which are amazing.  I don't like to trim, but if I have to - those are the way to go.  Today I added a super cute little Creative Grids ruler - I thought it would be a fun little gift to send a friend.  We all love a fun mail day, right?

Aren't these pretty?  I have always love Kansas Troubles fabric...

And what's not to love about red/cream/blue??
The little half square triangle trimming ruler.
This is the brand new ruler - isn't it cute??  I love everything about it

And...how do you think this is going to turn out?  Finley has gotten so big and he's a little bit on the assertive side when he wants to be.  But...Daisy can still take him!  Callie tries to stay out of it all!

That's all for now, I have to get back to the website.  I will post again as soon as we get the new site up and running!

  1. Well, hello there Sweetpea....so good to see a post from you! I am so very sorry about the news of your father...no matter the circumstances, it hurts like hell. My heart hurts for you and hope soon you can find more comfort and joy in his memories than sadness in his absence. Major bummer about the canceled show...especially so that you invested all that time and effort into the setup. Love the new quilt kits...your designs are just so beautiful to be. Wish I were a real quilter...only have ever done a few small paper pieced pieces. And LOL...silly kittehs. My "little boy" has grown up and gets pretty rough with his (much littler) sister at times....talk about the fur flying. Be safe and stay well...and be well and stay safe ~Robin~

  2. So, so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing, Julie. When my Dad passed we had pretty much expected him to be gone before the year was out. I can't imagine how much harder that journey is when it is sudden and unexpected.
How frustrating that must have been to be that close to show time and have it be canceled. But you have a great looking booth. :)
Oh, those cats make me laugh. Never a dull moment!
Good to catch up with you. My prayers are with you as you try to mend your broken heart!

Bummer about the show, but in retrospect, yeah, probably a good thing it was cancelled. Take care
